Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Knitting With Cat (“the app”) collects, why, and what control you have. It describes the app as it actually behaves — if the app changes, this page changes with it.

The short version

• There is no account and no sign-in. You never give us your name, email address or phone number.
• Your projects, counters, notes and pattern PDFs stay on your device.
• We collect anonymous usage and crash data so we can see which features are used and fix what breaks.
• We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and there is no advertising in the app.
• We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

What stays on your device only

None of this is uploaded to us, and none of it is readable by us:

• Your projects — names, project type, colours, and the row, section and repeat counts for each one.
• Your notebook pages — charts, modifications and yarn notes.
• Any PDF pattern you open beside the counter. The file is read from wherever you picked it; we do not copy it to a server.
• Any YouTube link you attach to a project. The link opens in a web view inside the app; we do not record which videos you watch.
• Your row reminders, language and appearance settings, and which cat you have chosen.

Deleting the app deletes all of it. Because there is no account, there is no separate “delete my data” step — but if you would like confirmation in writing, email us and we will answer.

Anonymous analytics and crash reports

To understand which features help and where the app fails, we collect anonymous product analytics and crash reports through Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config).

What that includes:

• Which screens and panels are opened, when a project is created and what type it is, when the counter is used, and when the paywall or the cat marketplace is shown.
• Crash logs and basic performance data.
• A random, Apple-provided app identifier, plus device model, operating system version, language and country.

What it never includes: your name, your email address, your project names, your notes, your pattern files, or the contents of anything you type into the app. These events are not linked to your real identity and are not used to build an advertising profile.

Purchases

Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or store your card details.

• Cats bought in the marketplace are one-off purchases handled directly by Apple’s StoreKit.
• Premium subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are managed through Adapty, which records — against an anonymous app identifier — whether a purchase or trial is active. That is what tells the app to unlock premium features; it does not tell us who you are.

App Tracking Transparency

The app does not request permission to track you, because it does not track you. No data collected here is linked to data from other companies’ apps or websites for advertising or measurement purposes.

Who processes data for us

We use a small number of well-known providers, each only for the purpose described above:

• Apple — app distribution, payment processing, push notifications.
• Google Firebase — anonymous analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration.
• Adapty — subscription and purchase status, against an anonymous identifier.

Each of these may process data outside your country. They act as our processors under their own security and data-protection commitments.

Children

Knitting With Cat is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and no personal profile, there is normally nothing for us to look up, correct or export. If you are in the EU, the UK or another region with data-protection rights and you would like to exercise them, email us and we will help.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the date above.
